If you know that you have a ton of people coming round then you will know how important it is for you to try and get everything in order. If you don’t put the work in to try and get everything in order then you may find that you end up running around endlessly at the end of the week and this is the last thing that you need when you already have so much to think about. If you want to get around all of this then here are some top tips that will help you to get started.

Where and When

The first thing that you need to decide is where and when you are going to have your BBQ. Great BBQ parties are super easy and it doesn’t matter whether you are hosting it in the backyard or whether you are having it in your apartment terrace because there are so many options available. You can even take a portable BBQ to the park or to the beach. If you are worried about the rain then fire up the grill and get everyone inside. If you have an outdoor entertaining area then you can easily pull off the whole event with ease and this can be a great solution to all of your problems. If you want to get some help with what day to host your BBQ then it is understandable why weekends are the best option. You can have it later on in the evening or you can even host it in the middle of the afternoon as well if you want. When setting the time, try and make sure that you allow a couple of hours at least. You could do 12-4 or you could even do 4-8. When you have a bigger block of time, you can really help to keep things casual and you can even make it easier for people to arrive at a time that suits them as well.

Curating your Guests

Think about it, who do you want to come to your BBQ? Do you want to have a big one or a small one? If you want to have a big BBQ then try and invite everyone that you know and then increase the amount of hours that people will have to come by. If you are expecting a lot of people then try and prepare yourself for accepting some contributions. It may also help to have a table that is completely clear as this will help you to put the food somewhere without clogging up your kitchen. You also need to be prepared to do some cleaning as well and the main reason for this is because no matter how clean your guests try and be, when you have a lot of people round, you are going to have a good amount of mess. Some of your guests may want to bring things that have to go in the oven and this is great but if you know that you are just not going to have the room then ask them to bring some refreshments instead, or even some party nibbles as well. This is a fantastic way for you to really accommodate for the needs of your guests. If you want to have a small get-together then this can be just as much fun as the bigger ones. You can have more time to socialise with your friends and you also don’t have to worry about cooking as much food either. You will even find that the cost of the party is way less as well. A lot of people like to have smaller BBQs over the summer rather than just having a single big one so this could be another idea. Either way, do whatever option works for you.

Choosing the Food

If you want to make the whole event a success then it is a good idea for you to try and stick to the classics. The main reason for this is because everyone likes them. If you are stuck with how much to cook then have 2-3 grilled items for every guest that you have. Chicken is also way more popular than you would think and if you are stuck then you can always adjust the menu to meet the crowd. If you know that you are not having any kids come over then consider ditching the hot dogs and just have burgers. You can even try and marinade the chicken skewers in some exotic spices as well. If you know that the people who are coming are seriously into their red meat then ditch the chicken and have hamburgers, steak and more.

Believe it or not, simplicity really is key when you are hosting a BBQ. Try and opt for things like beer, wine and even soda as well. You can again, adjust the drinks that you are going to have to meet the needs of the people who are going to come. If you are having a ton of kids come over then you can have some lemonade or even some juice boxes. If you are concerned about spillages then try and have juice cartons with a push cap as they aren’t as likely to go everywhere. If you want to make things a little more ambitious then consider having a margarita pitcher setup and even mix up some sangria in the garden as well. For a large gathering it is super important that you have some ice on-hand. When you do, you can easily make the drinks go even further and you can also really help everyone to have the refreshments they need on the day. This is especially the case if you know that you are expecting some hot weather as well so do keep that in mind.

So there are many things that you have to think about when you are hosting a BBQ and when you put the work in, you can be sure to pull off the greatest party that your friends have ever been to.
