If you’re a mom, you’re probably prone to the occasional crisis of confidence. Most people have days when they don’t feel brilliant. The good news is that there are multiple ways to boost your confidence. If you’re having one of those days, or you struggle with low self-esteem, here are some simple steps you can take to look and feel fabulous.
Human interaction
Humans are sociable creatures by nature, and if you’re ever feeling low or down, interactions with others can make all the difference. We all know how wonderful it feels to laugh until your belly hurts or to feel the warmth and comfort of a hug when we most need one. If you’re struggling, reach out to your closest friends and family members. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good, and focus on quality not quantity when it comes to your friends. Cut out negative influences, and spend time with those who build you up rather than knock you down.

Retail therapy
Many of us are affected by the way we look. If we have a day when everything we try on looks rubbish, this can knock our confidence. If you’ve been finding it difficult to feel confident in your own skin of late, consider indulging in some retail therapy. Moms often go all-out to treat their children, and sometimes, it’s good to treat yourself. Look for items of clothing that flatter your body shape and show off your personality. Use belts and opt for high-waisted trousers and skirts and a corset shirt to show off your waist, or go for a midi skirt or tailored shorts to highlight long legs. Try on different styles, don’t rule out pieces you like based on the fact that you assume that they won’t suit you, and don’t be afraid to be bold.

Exercise
Some people rave about exercise, and others can’t bear to even think about stepping into a gym. Exercise isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, but it’s a hugely beneficial natural tonic for low confidence, stress, anxiety and a lack of energy and focus. Physical activity can make you feel energetic and enthusiastic, it increases serotonin levels and releases endorphins to lift your mood, and it can also help you sleep. If you don’t fancy going to the gym and pounding the treadmill for hours, there are myriad activities you can try instead. Go to a dance, yoga or Pilates class, play tennis, join a soccer team, go for a swim, or start jogging around the local park a couple of times a week. Even a short burst of exercise can work wonders for your confidence.

Self-love
Self-love is a subject some of us find difficult. The reality is that there is a big difference between loving yourself and being arrogant or self-absorbed. Self-love is really all about giving yourself credit, looking after yourself and being as kind to yourself as you are to others. Many moms are harsh critics. Go steady when it comes to your appraisal of your looks, your parenting skills and your ability to juggle motherhood and work. There’s every chance that you’re doing a great job!
